Saltwells Park in Middlesbrough now has two replacement swings, two new cradle swings and a new cantilever/tyre swing.
Some damaged and worn tyres were also removed from the park’s obstacle course to ensure the safety of those using the equipment.
The Priorities Fund also enabled the installation of bollards near the park to combat inconsiderate parking.
The work was made possible thanks to a successful application to Middlesbrough Council’s Priorities Fund for a £1,500 grant by Central ward Councillors Lewis Young, Linda Lewis and Zafar Uddin.
The installation of the new play equipment followed a clean-up by the Council’s new Neighbourhood Caretakers who are helping to transform neighbourhoods across the town.
They painted railings, gates and play equipment, cut back overgrown branches and weeds and gave the park a general tidy-up.
The Neighbourhood Caretakers initiative has proved so successful that the team is now being expanded from 16 to 32 across the town’s four geographical areas.
Councillor Lewis Young said: “Local communities really value spaces like Saltwells Park for play and recreation, and we all have a role to play in maintaining them.
“As ward Councillors we were delighted to be able to fund these upgrades and repairs to the play equipment, and look forward to it being enjoyed for many years to come.”
