Bonfire Night Bin Collection Advice Offered

Published November 02, 2018 By

MIDDLESBROUGH residents are being asked to be vigilant with their bins around the Bonfire Night period.

To avoid the possibility of any deliberate or accidental wheelie bin fires occurring, advice is being offered to all in the town.

Middlesbrough Council’s waste and recycling team is recommending that bins are kept secure and put out for collection on the morning refuse vehicles are due.

Additionally it is advised that no excess waste is left out and that bins are brought back in and secured as soon as reasonably possible.

Cllr Denise Rooney, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Environment and Commercial Services, said: “While this is advice we would recommend to residents all year round for a number of reasons we would urge extra vigilance at this time of year.

“It is purely precautionary of course but it is not worth taking the risk of being victim to either an accidental or deliberate wheelie bin fire.”
