The Wave of Light event will take place on Thursday, October 15, and is open to anyone who would like to remember children lost in pregnancy, at birth or in the first weeks, months or years of life.
The evening at St Bede’s Chapel – held in partnership with Still Parents Teesside - will include:
• A remembrance service from 6pm
• The Wave of Light at 7pm, when candles will be lit in remembrance
• A ribbon wall in the Baby Garden, where visitors can take a ribbon and leave a personal message or tribute
• Music from a choir throughout the evening
Helen Largan from Still Parents Teesside said: “We are proud to be putting on our fifth Wave of Light service this year, which gives local families an opportunity to come together to remember their babies in a safe, understanding space.
“This year we have decided to move from the Chapel of Remembrance over to St Bede’s chapel in order to be able to accommodate more families at the service.”
Cllr Peter Gavigan, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive member for Environment & Sustainability, said: “The loss of a child in infancy is devastating for all affected, but there is comfort to be had in togetherness and shared experience.
“The Wave of Light event at Teesside Crematorium offers a quiet and supportive space for reflection and remembrance for families.”
• The Wave of Light baby loss remembrance event takes place in St Bede’s Chapel at Teesside Crematorium on Acklam Road, Middlesbrough from 6pm on Thursday, October 15.
