Reformer is performed on a specialist machine with adjustable resistance and a moving platform, resulting in a versatile workout that can be tailored to suit individual fitness levels.
Popular for its ability to strengthen the core, improve flexibility and assist with rehabilitation, the exercise is suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
Meanwhile, the outdoor football pitches at Middlesbrough Sports Village reopened last month after they were resurfaced and drainage improvements were carried out, with the £500,000 project funded by Middlesbrough Council.
Redcar Leisure Centre’s gym also reopened on Saturday (September 20) after undergoing a £650,000 transformation.
The project, joint-funded by award-winning operator Everyone Active and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, saw the gym extended to 150 stations.
A full refurbishment included the arrival of state-of-the-art Life Fitness equipment and an extended strength and conditioning area, featuring four new racks with lifting platforms.
A new recovery area boasting Therabody equipment has been added, while brand new flooring and matting has been installed.
The official launch of the new gym will take place on Saturday, September 27, with live DJ Krystal Roxx DJing two Clubbercise sessions.
The Beat Boutique will also be doing a live set in the gym from 11.30am-1.30pm, while personal training taster sessions will be on offer.
The upgrades at Redcar Leisure Centre are reflected in other Everyone Active facilities on Teesside.
Saltburn Leisure Centre’s gym reopened earlier this month, which included a refresh and upgraded equipment.
Paul Ayre, Everyone Active’s area contract manager, said: “It’s great to see Everyone Active centres on Teesside getting fantastic upgrades that enable them to better serve local communities.
“The new gym at Redcar Leisure Centre reflects current fitness trends and features top-quality equipment, allowing people of all ages, abilities and interests to get their perfect workout.
“Reformer at Middlesbrough Sports Village is a brilliant activity for everyone, whether you’re just starting your fitness journey, recovering from an injury or simply looking to enhance your routine.”
Councillor Jan Ryles, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive member for Public Health, said: “Our gyms and leisure centres are popular because they offer the best classes and equipment at affordable prices.
“These upgrades – including the new Reformer studio at Middlesbrough Sports Village – are just the latest examples of Everyone Active’s commitment to delivering the very best facilities for people of all ages and abilities.”
