By Published September 08, 2021

The anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be commemorated in Middlesbrough with the annual Parade and Service.

This year's event takes place on Sunday, September 12.

In commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the Battle of Britain,1869 (Middlesbrough) Squadron Air Training Corps will be on parade.

The parade will form at 11.30am at the Cenotaph at Albert Park, where the service and wreath laying ceremony will be held.

Following the Service, the Parade will be dismissed.

The Battle of Britain was the German air force's attempt to gain air superiority over the RAF from July to September 1940.

Their ultimate failure was one of the turning points of World War Two and prevented Germany from invading Britain.
