The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum in Middlesbrough has received a boost from a national fund.
The much‑anticipated Middlesbrough Mela 2025, marking the festival’s 35th anniversary, returned in style to Albert Park on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 August, as one of the UK’s longest-running multicultural festivals, it drew over 50,000 visitors across the weekend Middlesbrough Council.

People jailed for their role in last summer’s violent disorder will be invited to research their family history to highlight how migration has helped shape Middlesbrough.
