The one match possible in the North Riding Football League Premier Division, on Saturday, saw Redcar Newmarket move above neighbours Redcar
Town, into third spot. Newmarket enjoyed a 2-0 victory over Grangetown Boys Club, thanks to a brace from leading goalscorer Michael Dowse, which takes them just three points behind second-placed Fishburn Park.
The lone clash in the First Division saw Loftus Athletic come out on top, staying fifth in the table thanks to success in an eight-goal thriller with bottom club Middlesbrough & Teesside Sports Academy. Jordan Rowe scored twice for Athletic with Jordan Cane adding a treble. The Academy's response came from Mark Kershaw, Bryan Caddick and Ryan Bligh.
The one North Riding Challenge Cup Third Round encounter saw two First Division sides meet, as third defeated fourth. New Marske Lakes United reached the quarter finals after a 3-0 victory over Great Ayton United Royals. Blue Addison scored all three goals, justifying Lakes' efforts to transfer the fixture to their Gurney Street home, after the Royals' own Leven Park was one of many frozen pitches in the region.
Sunday saw just two games take place, again due to a combination of frozen and waterlogged surfaces. Guisborough Town reclaimed top spot in the North Riding Under 19 Division, after a ten-goal thriller. Owen Armstrong fired a hat-trick, with John Howard netting a brace and Isaac Carlucci firing a sixth goal that took the Priorymen above Boro Rangers, on goal difference only. Gary Walker, Simeon Cromarty, Joe Shields and Zach Sadler replied for visitors Richmond Town, as it finished 6-4 at the King George V ground.
The other clash was another high-scoring affair, but much more one-sided, as third-place Thornaby thumped Billingham Synthonia 6-1. Joe Pickett was the hat-trick hero in this one, with Tyler Hersi, as well as substitutes Kieran Mulroy and Thomas Dobbs finding the net. Synners netted through Ryan Nicholson.
