Final Festive Fling with the Big Sing

By Published December 11, 2017

MAGICAL Middlesbrough Christmas is preparing for a final festive fling with the annual Big Sing.

The three-week festival comes to a conclusion on Sunday, December 17 with the climax of a weekend of performances.

Prior to that, the market and fairground in Centre Square will close for three days, from Monday, December 11 to Wednesday, December 13, due to the expected high winds.

The event will then reopen on Thursday, December 14 from 3pm-7pm to coincide with late night shopping in Middlesbrough.

It will run on Friday, December 15, from 3pm-7pm with performances from Newham Bridge Primary School, Sacred Heart Primary and Sunnyside Academy.

On Saturday, December 16, from 11am-7pm, Magical Middlesbrough Christmas will welcome characters from Frozen for a singalong with Elsa and Anna. The Bradley School of Dance and Middlesbrough Youth Theatre will also perform.

And on Sunday, from 11am-7pm, there will be appearances by Cleveland Police Interceptors, Jessica Daley, Apollo Arts performing a Very 80s Christmas, Natasha Ferguson, Paul Sudlow (The Funk Collective), Phil Wing (Groove Night) and Teesside School of Music. The annual Big Sing will also take place on the Sunday.

A spokesman for the event said: “We have huge ambitions for the future of our Magical Middlesbrough Christmas and this year has gone pretty much as expected with more than 60,000 people attending the lights switch on and parade events and slower footfall during the working day.

“We are now looking forward to the final few days with a packed programme of events and performances to look forward to next weekend including the always popular Big Sing.”
