Help Digitise Middlesbrough Libraries’ Future

By Published August 16, 2017

MIDDLESBROUGH’S libraries are looking for some helping hands to move their collections into the digital age.

The town’s Library Service is appealing for volunteers to take part in an exciting digitisation project to preserve its photographs and documents.

Images will then be uploaded to a new interactive website that will reflect Middlesbrough’s social history.

The project will be based in Middlesbrough Reference Library and will be an ideal volunteering opportunity for people with basic IT skills and an interest in local history.

Full training will be given in scanning photographs and documents as well as reformatting and uploading images.

  • Find out more at an information session at the Reference Library on Monday, August 21, Tuesday, August 22 or Thursday, August 24 from 2pm to 3pm or contact Ruth Cull on 01642 729409 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

  • I think good radio often uses the techniques of fiction: characters, scenes, a big urgent emotional question. And as in the best fiction, tone counts for a lot. – Ira Glass
