Laying of the First Poppy and Armistice Day 2024

Published November 05, 2024 By

Middlesbrough will once again remember those who fought in conflicts around the globe and made the ultimate sacrifice.

Elected Mayor Chris Cooke will lay the First Poppy at the Cenotaph on Linthorpe Road at 10.45am on Thursday, November 7.

Pupils from local schools have been invited to lay poppy crosses on the Field of Remembrance.

The Remembrance Sunday Parade & Service will be held on Sunday, November 10 also attended by the Mayor and other civic dignitaries.

The parade will start at 10.30am and will march up to The Cenotaph for the service, which will finish around 12.30pm.

For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed on the Council's Facebook page.

A small Armistice Day service will take place at The Cenotaph on Monday, November 11 from 10.45am, when a two-minute silence will be held.
