New Charges at the Tees Transporter Bridge

Published July 12, 2018 By

NEW charges come into effect at the Tees Transporter Bridge from next month.

Fees for pedestrians and cyclists will go up from 60p to 70p, with car fares rising from £1.30 to £1.50.

Admission to the Transporter Visitor Experience – including the glass lift to the recently refurbished upper walkway – will go up from £5 to £5.50, with a family ticket up from £15 to £17.

Councillor Lewis Young, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Economic Development and Infrastructure, said: “The Tees Transporter is one of the great icons of the North East, and a proud symbol of Middlesbrough’s rich heritage.

“It’s been in operation for over 100 years, and any income generated goes back into keeping it maintained and in full working order.

“The charges have not increased since 2011, but the cost to deliver this popular service has risen over that period.

“These modest increases will ensure it continues to serve commuters and delight visitors for many years to come.”

The new fares will come into force on Monday, August 6.
