The 2nd day of the inaugural Come Together music festival on the site of Newcastle’s Town Moor concluded on Friday night with a spectacular set from US rockers Kings of Leon, who pleased a field full of 45,000 fans with a set packed with hits spanning nearly 3 decades to close the 2025 edition of the festival following on from Robbie Williams’s headline set on the Wednesday.
The set-up on the Town Moor looked good, very spacious with plenty of food vendors and drink options as well as fairground rides and a well-organised enter/exit system which didn’t take long to get people in and out at all. There were 3 stages with the big main stage standing out at the top of the field with stage 3 not far to the left of it and stage 2 not far to the right. The stages were very well set-up and there were no clashes in terms of music overlapping. There was also a segregated gold circle area at the front of the main stage for fans who paid an extra bit of money to get closer to their favourite bands.
The final day began mid-afternoon showcasing emerging talent with Chloe Slater who was first up on the main-stage as she played her dreamy indie-pop songs. Following on after were indie favourites The Cribs and The Snuts. before The Reytons appeared at 6pm to tear up the main stage, a band that certainly know how to please a festival crowd. At this point we saw more and more fans appearing on the Town Moor to enjoy what was coming up for the rest of the evening.
A big mention has to go to Courteeners, sub-headliners on the night but a band certainly capable of being the main act. They delivered a very strong 13-song set, kicking off with the well-loved ‘Are You In Love With A Notion?’, ‘Cavorting’, before playing songs off their latest album Pink Cactus Café and other St, Jude classics aswell as other songs ranging from their catalogue of 7 studio albums. Their set finished with their signature hit ‘Not Nineteen Forever’ as the penultimate track before finishing what ‘What Took You So Long?’. The Manchester band were certainly shown appreciation from the crowd as they left the stage ready for headliners Kings of Leon to take the reigns.
Then time for what many had many had been waiting for as Kings of Leon entered the stage at around 9:15pm, marking the first time the Tennessee rockers had played in the North East since 2022. The band opened with ‘Rainbow Ball’ from their most recent album ‘Can We Please Have Fun’.
Kings of Leon certainly didn’t disappoint and showed the exact reason why they are still playing to huge crowds and headlining festivals 22 years after their debut album ‘Youth And Young Manhood’ was released.
The band played songs from their extensive back catalogue from over 20 years and nine studio albums under their belt, playing early numbers such as ‘The Bucket’, ‘On Call’, ‘Taper Jean Girl’, and ‘Molly’s Chambers’, to their enormous hits such as ‘Use Somebody’ and ‘Sex On Fire’ (the song that was used to close their set’, aswell as recent songs like ‘Mustang’ and ‘Nowhere To Run’ from their most recent album ‘Can We Please Have Fun’. The band played their new single ‘We’re Onto Something’ which they released with American country singer Zach Bryan that day.
The Kings of Leon set provided the perfect end to a much enjoyable 2nd and final day day of Come Together Festival 2025.
There were famous faces in attendance as former Manchester United footballers Gary Neville and Michael Carrick were spotted in attendance, to which many festival-goers noticed and were asking for pictures to which both were happy to do.
The festival was also great at showcasing it’s hand to emerging talent from the region with bands and artists like Leazes, Cortney Dixon, Liam Fender, all took to the stage across stages 2 and 3, with more emerging talent from across the UK being on show too with the likes of The Kairos who blitzed stage 3 with a high-octane set in between Courteeners and Kings of Leon, aswell as others such as Aaron Rowe and The Rosadocs.
All in all we thought Come Together Festival was very well put together and successful for it’s first year as a festival and things will only improve as the festival will hopefully continue to grow into something that will be a staple piece of the North East music scene for years to come.
After Robbie Williams and Kings of Leon, we can’t wait to see what is in-store for Come Together Festival 2026.
