Police Name Two Men Wanted in Connection with Suspected Murder

Published January 21, 2020 By

Detectives investigating the alleged murder of a dad-of-two in Hartlepool last year are appealing for information to trace two men who are wanted in connection with the death.

Qazim Marku, 23, and Eugert Merizaj, 28, are wanted in connection with the investigation into the death of Hemwand Ali Hussain, 30, who was found in a property in Charterhouse Street on Sunday September 15 2019.

Both men were born in Albania but are thought to have links to a number of areas across the UK including Cleveland, Bolton, Sheffield and London.

Eugert Merizaj is described as around 5’5 tall with brown eyes and short dark hair with a receding hairline. He had a full beard and moustache at the time of these photographs.

Qazim Marku is around 5’8 tall again with brown eyes and short dark hair, he also had dark facial hair when these photos were taken.

Four men have already been charged in connection with the alleged murder of Mr Hussain, who officers say had suffered a gunshot wound. Their trial will begin in February.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Robinson, said: “Today we are sharing images and descriptions of two men who are wanted in connection with the alleged murder of Hemwand Ali Hussain.

“Mr Hussain was found dead in a property in Charterhouse Street, Hartlepool and had suffered a gunshot wound.

“He was a father-of-two who had served in the Kurdish military.

“We’d appeal to anyone who can provide information to help us locate these wanted men to get in contact with police, and if anyone sees these men, they are asked not to approach them but to contact us on 999.”

DCI Robinson added: “We hope these pictures will lead to information which can help us locate Merizaj and Marku.

“We also continue to search for two further men, of unknown identity, who we believe can help us with our inquiries. They are a man believed to be in his 40s – who was a passenger in a silver Mercedes E Class – and a man, thought to be in his 20s, who is pictured wearing a grey ‘Fila’ brand sweatshirt and dark trousers.

“We want to re-appeal to anyone who believes they have information which could help our investigation to get in touch.”
