By-Election to be Held in Brambles and Thorntree

A MIDDLESBROUGH Council by-election is being held following the death of Brambles & Thorntree Ward member Councillor Peter Purvis.

The election was called by two members of the public on Friday.

Nomination papers for the election are available from Electoral Services, PO Box 503, Town Hall, Middlesbrough, TS1 9FX and must be delivered to the Returning Officer no later than 4pm on Friday, November 16.

If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, December 13.

Those residents who are already registered to vote in the area will receive a Poll Card advising them of where their polling station is located, between Thursday, November 8 and Friday, November 16.

The last date to register to vote in  this by-election will be Tuesday, November 27.

Those wishing to register should visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or contact Electoral Services on 01642 729771.

Deadline for receiving new postal vote and postal proxy applications, and for changes to existing postal or postal proxy votes, is 5pm on Wednesday, November 28.

Deadline for receiving proxy applications, and for changes to existing proxy votes is 5pm on Wednesday, December 5.

Applications for an emergency proxy vote to vote by proxy applied for on grounds of incapacity occurred after 5pm on Wednesday, December 5, must be submitted to the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Thursday, December 13
